The Japanese band was the first band to go. Their show was OK, but not fantastic. Showband went next - did a fantastic show, but 2 girls slipped and went down in the front. The Thailand band performed next and had a pretty good show, but we all felt it was confusing (lots of props and activity about Alice in Wonderland).
The final part of the day is a Retreat where all the bands that performed that day march back on to the field to hear them announce the winners. Unfortunately, the entire ceremony was in Dutch, so although we heard Showband announced 3 times, we have no idea what they actually won. We think they got 1st in Parade (which was actually their worst event); 2nd in the WAMSB show; 3rd in the WMC show. I'll check the website and give an update when I can. Regardless, they did fantastic and we were very proud to be there with them. The Retreat usually takes 15-30 mins. max., but this one took FOREVER and we had no idea what they were saying! It sucked considering all week they were giving all the announcements in English too. It was so long that many of the Japanese band members fainted and had to be carried off the field. It was pretty shocking!
To end the trip; we watched the kids sing in the cathedral in the Abbey where they stayed. Brought me to tears again. They are leaving for London by bus late tonight, so we won't see Chels for a few days, We're off to Brussels in the morning.
