First thing this morning I ran out to download the latest weather maps and grab two sticks of bread.  We moved to the fuel dock and bought diesel, then headed out in slight winds to cross the deserted harbor, and left the engine on for want of breeze.  We plodded past rocky capes, and did two slow circles to align our autopilot's compass, which has been reading an annoying ten degrees too high.  Libellule whipped up a rich lentil soup for lunch but it was hard to enjoy with my tooth still very sore.  Wine helped to soothe it.

Napping while Libellule fooled with flopping sails, I had nervous dreams of going up on the rocks, holes punched in the hull.  I guess they were triggered by the return to clammy sea air, and stinging salt that keeps cuts on the fingers from healing, and the incessant rolling motion of the boat even in calm seas like these.  Finally my watch started at 11pm with seas almost glassy and in fact bright Jupiter reflecting a wiggle below the coastal lights dimmed by mist that rose to block most of the stars, and the droning motor and an easy course held by autopilot, no ships save two large lighted freighters anchored with snoring crews, nothing to keep me awake but my sore tooth and duty.

I made Pappy a coffee when I woke him for the 3am watch and I went to bed.  I woke when he tried to sail, banging the boom and reeling on the winches, and then gave up and tried to start the engine but killed house power by mistake.

The few pictures of today start here.
