We arrived in Siam Reap, Cambodia around 7pm last night via PMT Airways and checked in to a lovely little contemporary bungalow with swimming pool and chilled. After an early breakfast, we headed for the temples of Angkor, capital of Cambodia's ancient Khmer empire and the worlds largest temples. The first temple we tackled was Angkor Wat - the worlds largest religious building. It has three elaborate levels that get higher the further in you go and are linked by galleries. Although the climb to the top was a killer, it was definately well worth it. We then went for a short balloon ride to get a different view of the complex, again the views were breath taking. We then headed for our second temple, Ta Prohm. This temple has been left to nature, with mahosive tree roots growing through walls almost strangling the building. After lunch we spent time at some smaller temples with equally impressive stone carvings before heading for the Bayon temple which have large faces (4m tall) carved into the stone (apparently over 200+). Feeling temple'd and Bhuddha'd right out, we headed for town for a few drinks, tomorrow we're going to chill round the pool.
