This morning we went to another school with an excellent reputation throughout China; it was called Gold Apple. We found out that they teach students at the primary, middle, and secondary levels. They are a boarding school with students from all over the world. What made the school unique was that it specialized in preparing and placing their students in other countries, such as Australia and the United States. Six of their international students took us on a guided tour of the campus. This large campus was very beautiful and we all enjoyed the conversations we had with these young high school students.
In the afternoon we headed to the Yu Gardens for some leisure time and spent most of it shopping. Part of the fun of the Gardens was bargaining with its vendors as you tried to bring the price of an item down as low as possible. Something that originally started at 400 Yuan or RMB (the currency in China), could possibly be had from anywhere between 150 and 200 Yuan ($25 -$35 roughly), depending on your bargaining abilities. Many vendors were quite persistent once you showed interest in an item (see picture).
After shopping and a quick snack at an excellent dim sum restaurant we headed to the banks of the Huangpu River where we enjoyed the sites and took pictures of the buildings around us. We then went on a boat cruise along the river with some school officials from the Shibei Senior High School, which is the school that hosted the forum the day before. We had dinner, good discussions, a signing ceremony (similar to the one we had in Jinhua), and took many pictures of Shanhai's bright and beautiful skyline. It was another wonderful day in Shanghai!
