You know you are in Bolivia when the bus & car horns do not stop, when you see hunched over men & women (of older age) carrying their very large loads to market & the faces of the locals seem very serious.
We have noticed a big difference between Argentina, Chile & Boliva. You can see on the peoples faces that it is a harder life to survive however we cannot help feel sometimes that we are not that welcome here. Arriving on the 3rd April it all started a bit exciting when we boarded a bus in Potosi after asking 4 people that worked for the company which bus to board, it turned out that we boarded the wrong bus. We did all we could. The bus ride was OK but we are still trying to figure out why even 2 metres the bus driver felt a need to move his hand from the steering wheel & onto the very musical horn
Easter sunday & everything was closed & also the elections were on & for some reason you could not buy any beer. Bernie was not happy. Spent the day playing cards & had our first feed at central market. Was a relaxing day.
05/04/10 - 10/04/10
We moved into Casa Al Tronco (in the lovely area of Rocoletta Zona about 15 minutes walk from centro) on the 5th & also had a first Spanish lesson. Our first Spanish teacher was a little too advanced for us so on the 6th we changed teachers to the owner of the place we were staying
Off to Tarabuco Markets. Bless Bernie for coming with me as shopping is not his thing for some reason. Was nice to be eating with the locals in the market & got a new local handbag but apart from that nothing special. We heard that most of the things come from Sucre anyway so we felt like it was a bit of a wasted trip. Was a nice day out though & we deserved it after all those Spanish lessons.
A large group of us are off to Samaipata today which we are all looking forward to getting out of a big city & into a sleepy town
Hope everyone is happy & no one has been upset by the volcano in Iceland!!
Love the watties!!!!
