Where I stayed
Beunos Dias from Mendoza!.
Tammy has let me loose on the keyboard to write my 1st entry in the blog.
Yesterday was our 1st excursion out of town without a hangover, and just as well.
We started with what should be a simple bus journey, which i suppose was but when you dont reallly have a clue it īs quite a pain. Anyway with the help of a good bus driver giving us the nod when to leave the bus we managed to get to Mr Hugoīs. Mr Hugo is a lovely local who hires bikes for the wine tours, it is customary to drink wine before you get on your bike. On an empty stomach at 11am its not really a good idea to drink wine and proceed to get on a bike and then cycle on the wrong side of the road(a busy road) but when in Mendoza as the saying goes.
Blazing hot day with not a cloud in the sky we head off half cut to potentially get full cut, found our 1st winery and had a small but funny tour from a worker called Herbatio. Decided to go for the full tasting of 4 different Malbecs for the pricely sum 6quid. So the tasters pretty much turned out to be nigh on full glasses this was all within 30 mins of being plied with Wine from Mr Hugo, i think you will start to get the picture now. Didnīt last the full day as the sun was killing me and turning me into a cooked prawn although Tam was lovin it and turning browner by the second. A strange side affect of all the wine was turning our toilet deposits green, so just in case you do the same donīt panic eat brown bread and drink white wine instead.
The next day(18/03) was a little more chilled and we went for a little picnic in the park with Chris and Lianne before cooking some chicken on the asado and having a farewell drink.
Farewell drink as we also booked our tickets out of here, next stop Tucuman!.
Since booking the ticket we have heard mixed reviews about Tucuman and have decided not to stay there for the night and try to go straight to Cafeyate for some clean mountain air. We enjoyed Mendoza but cannot wait to get back into the country for some star gazing and clean air.
Tammy is currently doing some research for an leg of the journey we cannot wait for, a 4 day 4 wheel drive adventure over the Atacama desert sneaking over the border into Boivia through cocaine and cannabis plantations guarded by machine gun weilding mercenaires!! Sounds fun hey although i think its a paved road and a legit border crossing with not a drug in sight. Plenty of salt though so Tam will be in heaven.
Would love to upload some pics with this entry but i think the connection is dial up so hopefully next time.
Take care all
