In less than twelve hours, I'll be at the airport beginning the long and arduous waiting process that will begin my journey to Derry, Northern Ireland. Am I packed? Absolutely not. Do I have all of the things I was supposed to get done? Of course not! Is it 2:30am? It may very well be. But boy, do I feel ready.

I finally finished all the academic work leading up to the trip. Let me tell you, these professors don't kid around. If there's one thing I've learned from my exploits with Dr. Connie Evans, it is that I sorely miss the academia that comes with non-music courses. All of my artsy courses are so practice-based; it is nice to have a purely mental task that requires some hefty studying. I may have complained about it once or twice (or a lot more than that...) but I have garnered some essential skills from my introduction to the history of Northern Ireland and South Africa.

I feel prepared to begin this journey. I said my see you later's, bought some new glasses and even cleaned out my car. For some reason, the essential things (you know packing) seem entirely ancillary. The next three months are going to change my life, and I can't wait to embrace that change. This travel blog is about to get interesting, folks. Hang on and enjoy!
