Hi  all
Had an average breakfast and left on our coach at 8.30am for Venice. En route there we met by a boat that was to take us to the centre of Venice where we are to meet our local tour guide who will show us around the northern side of the city.

We met at St Marks Basilica Square and had a good look around with everything being well explained. The area was quite crowded however we thought it great and the buildings very interesting. The guide finished the tour by taking us to a glass blowing exhibition and the craftsman was fantastic. Then we were shown through their shop and there were so many beautiful items available for sale.

The Petersonīs and Arthur'sīwill remember mum and dadīs decanter and goblet set that they displayed on the silver tray in the lounge. A very similar set was on display among the huge number on display. Jackie and i took an interest in 4 Royal blue and gold goblets decorated with flowers and we purchased them. They are to be shipped home and should be there after we arrive back. They were a little expensive but we thought they were lovely and we treated our selves.

After the tour, our group broke up as we had about 5 hours free to explore Venice. Weather was great and some of the others took advantage of some of the optional tours available.

One of the tours was a Gondola trip at $50US each. 6 of us thought we could do it cheaper and we negotiated a ride at half that price. When i say negotiated, the 4 women with us did it and did it well. We got a 45 minute ride through the canals and around the Lagoon and it was fantastic. Our rower / driver was exactly the type of person i expected and we even got a serenade. We enjoyed it immensely.

Then our group broke up and Talia (an American women of 27yrs) went out shopping and looking around with us.

At 6pm we left in the boat across the Lagoon to our coach. Then we had a little dinner at our hotel.

Then it was back to the hotel to watch the first game of the Rugby World Cup where the French got thrashed by Argentina. Then we got a little bad news in that the Warriors got beaten by the eels but we will come back next week. (hopefully).
