Today was the first day with the car and driver.  It is so nice to be driven around!

I explored Mamallapuram today.  It is known for its Pallava monuments.  These are early stone monuments and caves carved out of huge boulders.  There is a park that is full of these monuments.  It was fun climbing over the boulders and stumbling across the monuments and caves.

I also visited a bird sanctuary.  It was exactly the right time of day and the right time of the year.  The sanctuary was packed with big colourful gangly birds (I can't remember their name).  There was also a snake bird - so called because only its snake-like neck and head can be seen above the surface of the water.  I saw one catch a fish.  I will post pictures later - I don't have my cord with me...
