 25Th Feb.

We arrived in Bangkok 45 minutes late. This was not a bad thing as we would have less wait for the Phnom Penh flight. While waiting in departures we wandered into a Burger King. We had not eaten fast food hardly since December. We ordered the biggest baddest burger they had and super sized the meal. We sat down and looked at what we had ordered and both said at the same time " greedy pigs !!!" I have not been as thin as I am now for years and it's all to do with healthy eating. We both vowed there and then that we would never do this again. Cathy threw most of here meal away.
Our next flight was on time and we were soon back in Cambodia. After passing through the scramble of immigration and paying for our Visa on arrival, picking up our bags and negotiating a price with the taxi man, Cathy realized she had lost the purse with our Dollars in. She went straight back into arrivals but it was nowhere to be seen. There had been $300 in the purse and Cathy was feeling really bad about loosing the money. I told her that if all we loose after traveling for eight months is $300 then we could count ourselves lucky. We have heard horror stories about people loosing everything Money, Passports Cameras and pictures. Poor sods.
We headed back to the hotel we had stayed at on our first visit to PP. On arrival we said hello to the staff that remembered us from the last time. We asked if they had a room? They looked nervously at one another and said yes. But they would have to make the room up first. Cathy and I had a beer while we waited and noticed the hotel was a lot busier than the last time we were here. We later found out there was a conference on in town. The manager of the hotel eventually told us the room was ready. He wanted me to check the room. I thought this was strange and soon found out why. The hotel was full and rather than disappoint us by telling us there was no rooms available They had hastily converted a storage room for us. It did have a bathroom and a TV and we said it was fine, we would take it. A little later Cathy was fishing around in a wardrobe when she came across a nest of rats. She nearly jumped out of her skin. She closed the door and we sat on the bed wondering what to do. We knew if we informed the management they would kill them and as stupid as it sounds we didn't want that. So we decided we would just pretend they weren't there.LOL. Now that's real animal lovers for you!! I will say this about the hotel, the rooms upstairs are immaculate and clean and if we had informed the management they would have been absolutely horrified. We really didn't want to cause them the embarrassment or have the poor rats killed. Call us crazy if you want.
We did not eat that evening after our greedy episode in Burger King as a kind of punishment. We did go to a coffee shop and catch up on Emails and the like on their free WiFi. Early the next morning after a nice breakfast we booked two bus tickets for a place in western Cambodia called Battembang. We packed our bags and hailed a taxi and before we knew it we were headed out of PP.
