What I did
Zhujiajiao Water Village

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Today we travel about one hour outside of Shanghai to Zhujiajiao, a 1700 year old water town known as the Venice of Shanghai. We spend a few hours in this magical setting, enjoying an oared boat trip through the canals and shopping at the colorful shops lining the waterfront. Lunch is served on the waterfront, in full view of the traffic passing on the canal. We return to the hotel, and several of the guys go to the "imitation" market where you can get fake designer things at a cheap price. Our combined Farewell Dinner and Welcome Dinner is tonight.

Ten of us take off very early in the morning for Kunming, and seven return to the United States. You can expect this blog to be sporadically published over the next ten days, as our schedule is very packed with late arrivals and early departures and "one night stands" in many towns. I'll do my best to keep up, but it might have to wait until I return to Chicago. I'm very excited about visiting an area of China that I have not seen before!
