The long travel and sightseeing days and consecutive nights of three or four hours of sleep have caught up with me at last. I decide that I cannot possibly contribute anything to the group today other than the very high probability that I will make a hysterically stupid comment in my fatigued state (yesterday's was "What's the famous song from the musical 42nd Street?" to which Don replied, "Duh, I think it's '42nd Street' " which caused no end of amusement. So there is a useful purpose to having an exhausted Dan Ware in the group, but I just need a down day, and a day to get office work done as well.

I send the group off at 9am for their day of touring in Shanghai, and settle into my room for the day with curtains thrown wide open and a gorgeous view in front of the desk. I'm inspired and make quick work of the awards for tomorrow's farewell celebrations (with some brilliant assistance from Jonathan in Chicago via computer chat), then take a much-needed afternoon nap.

I join with the group for dinner, and find out about their exciting day. Gary, one of the new arrivals, loans me his camera card so that I have some photos to post from today's sightseeing, but don't expect commentary.

Tomorrow night this tour comes to a close, and a new one picks up with five new participants. All the new guys have arrived, so we're good to go!
