Jenny Lake in the Grand Teton National Forest is unlike anything I have ever seen. The Tetons are very symbolic mountains to me since I was able to wake every morning and drive to work to see them emboldened against a deep mountain fog.
In all my years spent away from the southern Idaho area, I can never seem to get the Tetons out of my mind. They are beautiful works of natural rock art! Many people prepare for months to be physically able to climb them.
We did not climb them. Jake, Janel, Kat, Steph, and I drove up for a day trip to take a hot afternoon dip in Jenny Lake right against the Tetons. We arrived on an extremely busy July afternoon and the park was overcrowded to the brim. We headed into the main area and easily found a trailhead that wound it's way around the lake.
We walked up the trail and continued to follow it until we were able to find our own isolated spot to enter the lake. I was so hot and excited to jump in, but I will tell you right now to expect a glacial temperature in an alpine lake. IT WAS FREEZING! Jake and I held hands and jumped in together. I reccomend the buddy system.
Jenny Lake was unutterably beautiful. My words do little justice in describing the surrounding area, so I will let the pictures tell the rest of our story.
