Over the past few days we have been taking it easy and exploring KK.  On Monday we went to a local environmental learning center and aquarium called "The Green Connection" and had a blast learning about fish, corals, and pythons! (I even held one!)  We sat and watched the guitar shark, leopard ray, and green sea turtle swim gracefully around their large tank.

On Tuesday we took a 20 minute boat ride away from Kota Kinabalu to the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park to get in a little beach and a little snorkeling. For only 25 RM each (about $8) we spent all day having fun snorkeling and relaxing, hopping around to 3 islands in the park (Mamutik, Manukan, Sapi).  We ventured out early in the morning with an Aussie couple we met at our hostel the night before.

In the water we:
Swam with two baby blue spotted sting rays
Played with a huge school of yellow striped fish
Saw the smallest and largest clown fish we've even seen
Thought we destroyed a massive piece of soft coral, only to realize that when disturbed by a strong current it retracts into itself making it look like a purple rock.
Spotted a medium sized lion fish hiding amongst the cracks in the coral
Watched a feather star gracefully walk it's way around the coral

Back in KK we refreshed ourselves with some ice-cold ABC and a walk around the night market
Here are some more pics from the past few days around KK.  My personal favorite is how the locals decorate their dashboards!

*Fun side note!*
I remember way back when the new video game "Dance Dance Revolution" came out in arcades and videos of Asian boys dominating the game spread across the net.  I always thought this was awesome...and last night I got to witness the magic with my own eyes.  Take a look at the insanity!
