Singapore is AMAZING. It is such a beautiful city, like Manila's polar opposite!  It's much more modern, more like Hong Kong or New York, except so clean and well laid out with trees and tropical plants everywhere.  Despite the rumors of Singapore being super strict with laws and fines, we only saw a couple of policemen ONE time, just casually strolling through the red light district (our neighborhood of course) chatting to each other while girls stood on the street like their waiting for the bus, dressed ever so slightly more sexy than anyone else.  There's no litter on the ground, although we did catch a couple of people spitting!  When we asked a local kid about the rules of Singapore, he said, "You can do whatever you want, just don't get caught."

The population here is made up of 75% Chinese, 13% Malaysian, 8% Indian (The indian food here is soooo good!) and the rest are ex-pats.  All the food here is amazing; we spent many meals eating at food hawker stalls, getting a little from here and a little from there along with amazing fresh fruit drinks.   Our last night we had hot pot buffet-style and we were still full the next day!  They brought us live prawns to boil and when I put the broth in the container one freaked out and got out of the little hole in the top and started jumping all around the table.  It was crazy! Jon just grabbed him and threw him into the big pot.

We went to the Singapore zoo, which is so beautiful of course, where many of the monkies are free-ranging.  The orang utans for instance climb around the trees above your head, many of which are attched by ropes for them to walk and swing from.  They are restricted from climbing down the trees by electric fences, but they are tree dwellers so they seem happy up above.  The zoo also has a habitat called "fragile forest" and you go inside the enclosure and hangout with butterflies, mouse deer, fruit bats, sloths, iguanas, tropical birds, and ring-tailed lemurs!  The lemurs are just hanging out right near you and the butterflies land on your hands and heads!

All in all it was a great stay in Singapore, and we would definitely stay longer if it wasn't so expensive here! (A beer is anywhere from S$5-S$18!!!)
