Where I stayed

Flag of Philippines  , Siquijor,
Saturday, March 13, 2010

I left the resort today!  Went to Siquijor town today to get some lunch of siapao (hum bao, or BBQ pork buns, in the Philippines, comes with some hard boiled egg in it), pancit (fried glass noodles with vegetables) and spring rolls.
Spent some time in a tiny hot internet place and e-mailed with mom, dad, and Nicole :)  the ONLY people who have e-mailed me so far....hmmm.....hint hint.....

Kids were outside watching music videos on TV, some Rod Stewart concert, followed by of course Lady Gaga. (I think I hear the same 2 or 3 songs about 5 times everyday)

Tonight we went to a cultural dance show at Coco Grove Resort (huge resort on Siquijor) and massive dinner buffet with Lecon (whole roasted pig, so rich and the skin if soo crispy), grilled fish, beef stroganoff, baked ham, chicken curry, bread dumplings, grilled chicken and veggie kebobs, vegetable stew, and sashimi. The general manager of the resort stood on stage and introduced every single guest attending the show from memory.  Everyone but us, haha. She came over afterward and apologized for skipping us because she said she couldn't see us and thought we had left.

The dance troupe from Siquijor State University then puts on a show that displays traditional dances of the three major provinces of the Philippines (Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao) followed by a modern dance section which is basically a group of girls doing a coregraphed dance to some Wyclef mix and the guys doing the same to some Lil' Wayne mix. It was pretty entertaining.  Then Joy invites all the guests up for a dance party and the DJ starts by playing....you guessed it....Lady Gaga.
