Today was my last day at work at the hotel, and I was glad to be done. I tossed my hated work shoes in the garbage at 2:05 and whooped. "That's it! I am done with this place!" Which, now that I think on it, might've been a bit of rubbing it in the faces of those who are there permanently, whose jobs and lives this place is. But we all have our own choices to make, and I said "No, thank you," pretty promptly when Glenda, the general manager, tried to ask me if I wanted to stay any longer. I learned a lot of from the job---I had to laugh today when a gentleman, after I cheerily answered the phone, announced that my phone manners were the pleasantest he'd ever heard---and I definitely don't regret taking it or sticking with it as long as I did.

But ever single part of me is currently yearning to move on. In the morning I wake up and find I've been dreaming of trees, lush green places, water running over rocks in a green wood. This place is too dry for my British Columbian, tree-loving soul. I need to go somewhere and have a bit of liquid injected before I shrivel up to dust.

Now I have to get back on that bus to Exmouth to go back to the beautiful reef retreat, where I will have the pleasure of spending three weeks washing dishes and helping cook food in return for free snorkelling, kayaking, and lazing about on the beach. Pretty good deal, eh?
