Arrived from Chiang Mai to Bangkok at about 11 in the morning, intending to stay a night. Dumped our new purchases in our fabulously tackety canvas bag and had a bit of a rethink and decided to get straight down to the coast and took the train down to Hua Hin.

Because of our severe lack of planning there was no oober-comfy coach left, so we had seats in a fan coach. The fans were utterly pointless as all the windows were down! 'm really glad we ended up there because (although pretty uncomfy on the old ass after 8 hours) - we got to be in a coach of thais. We had sellers offering us meals through the open windows every time we slowed down and people hopped on and off at various stations to offer us cool drinks from their buckets of ice. Lily also discovered chilli-mangoes (which are about as tasty as they sound!) which made for an excellent 'new experiences aren't always good experiences' moment.

Arrived at Hua Hin just before dark to discover our guesthouse was competely deserted. We're old hands at this now (hee hee) so snuck in and used their internet to find another guesthouse nearby. Ended up at a nice place just a short walk from the beach and over the flyover from tescos. Yup, tescos. I'm still in shock. Although it wasnt exactly like home because it had no marmite and had people hacking up chickens in the aisle.
Ah, thailand...

Hua Hin is beautiful, we chilled out on the beach most of the time. Lily even had a pedicure out on some rocks by a lovely thai lady who had a clipping of a photo of her from the daily mail, the photographer had apprently managed to get it to her somehow. She was most proud and declared herself a celebrity!

Also spent a couple of fabulous days with Lily's Great Aunt Flossie, who retired to Thailand in her 80s. Not a bad time to explore a new country, eh?! She treated us to a fabulous thai meal cooked by her cook Pim and a full british lunch the following day out in the town. Her grandson, Thomas is a champion thai boxer (at 13!) and we went to watch him fight the night before we left. He was incredible (I got really into it, punching my fists in the air and yelling) - he was the only person to knowck his competitor out completely! After the match people put money into his mouth as a sign of respect for his talent. All odd stuff and I'm not entirely sure hygenic....
