I met Kiernan on the train, a Kiwi.  We went to OPGH, the only place for a wanderer to stay in Georgetown--15 RM per night for a nice quiet dorm, free breakfast, tea coffee, and Satellite TV in the common area.

Kiernan and I met a Dutch girl who had just graduated Medical School three days ago.  Her name was difficult to pronounce, but it meant "oregano" in English.  We just called her Spice Girl.

In New Zeland the vowels are pronounced funny.  "Neck" is pronounced "nick", "check" is pronounced "Chick", and deck is  pronounced,,,,, well, you get it.

Anyway we met a young couple, he Brit she Kiwi, on their honeymoon.  HE told us when he first got to NZ he did not understand this.  A coworker and her husband were being sent to the Phillipines for an extended assignment.  They were both excited about the lodging procured by the employer.  Here is the reported colloquy with my Brit Friend.

HER:  Yes the house the are renting us is huge.  We even get our own dick.
HIM: ????
HER: Yes it is behind the house on a river .  I have seen pictures of it. It is quite large.
HIM: (recovering a bit) Really. How large?
HER:  Well, we plan to tie up a boat to it.
