We got up early--or so we thought- and went to Borobudur. This temple had the misfortune of being built Buddhist right before the bloody religious wars that swept Indonesia with the founding of Islam in the same century. (The Buddhists lost.)

By 8 AM it was insufferably hot. THe temple is gorgeous and the narrative is best told with the photos. WW and WM posed for hundreds of pictures with high school students--you have no idea how paparrazi-like these kids act when there are 3000 Indonesians and two bule. WM started calling WW "Britney".

Anyway, it was all in good fun. The sheets were changed in the room and it smells a lot better today. WM performed amateur surgery on his ingrown toenail and he's OK. We bought a kilo of rambutan for 2000 rupiah. Balance is being restored from a tough day yesterday.
