Villa Agung is a moto or bemo ride from the businesses in Lovina.  If you want to be in the thick of the nightlife and restaurants this is not the place for you.

Wandering_woman  and I are not that kind of traveler.  The Villa is in a perfect location for us.

There are A/C rooms in a hotel style for 220,000 Rp per night.  We opted for the rice barn fan bungalow for 170,000 with fan on both floors.  It is the closest lodging to the sea at the Villa.  There is another rice barn fan bungalow behind it, which WM would not recommend.  No view, and limited breezes, but it has a TV and VCD player.

There is a large king bed upstairs with mosquito net.  Unlike any other budget accomodation in Asia, there are multiple electrical outlets and power strips, and there have been no power outages during our first 4 days here.

Some may think that no A/C would be a sweltering experience.  Not so.  Open windows, sea breezes, oscillating fans make things quite comfortable.  WM could not imagine staying in the little hotel room when he could have a bungalow and smell the fresh air

Breakfast is included -  a mixed tropical seasonal fruit plate (watermelon, pineapple, papaya, and some kind of melon), coffee/tea. and a basket of fresh baked breads or banana pancake.  The restaurant is on a covered veranda looking out into the sea.

There is a small pool, mainly for cooling off after swimming in the ocean water, which is bathtub warm.

The owner Gus is in the US and did not get to meet WW and WM.  We heard much about Gus, though.  According to Stuart (remember Stuart?  "Heaving, moaning cow" Stuart?) after the Bali bombings when there were no tourists at all for months Gus kept all of his Indonesian staff on at full pay.

Staff are gracious and attentive.

DOWNSIDE-- The bungalow is not for folks who aren't willing (or able) to climb a very steep set of steps to the bedroom.  As is true everywhere on Bali, there are annoying beach touts-- cross from the veranda to the sand and you're out of the DMZ.  If you don't rent a motorcycle (for Christ's sake, it's $3.50 a day, cheapskate!) you will be pretty isolated, as beneath the equatorial sun is no place to take long walks.

WW and WM give Villa Agung two thumbs up if quiet, comfortable South Sea bliss where one can while away the hours conferrin' with the flowers is as appealing to you as it is to us.
