Where I stayed
Got a bootleg copy of Lonely Planet Viet Nam at the Russian Market ($4), wandered to the Foreign Correspondents' Club where my Brit Friend David Hatton says "when they drop the bomb, that's where I want to be"--beautiful open air 3rd floor overlooking the confluence of the Mekong and Bassac Rivers and a favorite expat watering hole to marvel at the sunset.
Had a Viet Nam visa mixup yesterday-- travel agent got the wrong dates for entry--imagine trying to fix this on a late Friday afternoon. Somehow it was done. On to Viet Nam.

Comments
I remember dropping 500 # bombs there when the Vietcong were using it as a safe harbor. Too many ghosts in that place for my liking. They still got the the human skulls on the ground where Po Phot had a little barbecue? Don't tell me I don't want to know.
