Night bus to Bangkok, slept a lot. Bus to the border. The Cambodia border scam unfolds.
Leave Thailand without a hitch and am standing in no man's land, neither Thailand nor Cambodia.
The Cambodian immigration lady asked for 1000 ($33) Baht for the visa fee. I offered $20 US, as is prescribed. She says that was only for arrival by air. I said No, it is on the Government of Cambodia website.
Then she says that $20 fee is only for E-visa. No, says me. E-visa is $25, Visa On Arrival is $20. I tell her I have no Thai Baht and offer to pay her in Cambodian Rial. She shuts the window and tells me to go back to Thailand.
A visit to the Commander's shack results in a compromise of $25 USD. She refuses to take the money or make eye contact.
Stayed in a lovely underpriced guesthouse,A/C, satellite TV, balcony overlooking the ocean for $15.
