My last night in Lombok was on market day.  Nina made an incredible feast of fried squid and tempeh, spinach, kampung chicken, and urap-urap.  It was, without question, the finest meal I ever ate. Check out the pics.

I had settled in to Lombok and it was sad to leave my new friends--Greg, Willie, Nina, Indah, and Citi.

Flew to Surabaya-- I have nothing good to say about the Puri Kencana Hotel or its staff.  Train next morning to Yogyakarta was very comfortable--traveled 386  kilometers for 140,000 rp.

Stayed in the Setia Kawan last night.  A/C, breakfast, 90,000 rp. Very quiet--the first morning there were no muzzeins calling th faithful to prayers.  Nice rooftop patio--pic of me on the patio.

They are full tonight-- moving to Metro Guest House.  Lonely Planet says no problem getting any room in town in March-- no holidays.  Apparently the did not know that this weeknd is apparently Mohammed's birthday, and that guy's birthday is as popular here as a certain religious icon from Bethlehem is back home. The town is packed.

Will visit Borobudur tomorrow. More after that.
