Well here I am in central Finland surrounded by dark green pine, green paddocks, newly budding green birches, green grass all dotted with small red and white houses, cottages and barns, and did I mention green? Everything is SO green!

Quite a different scene from the Australian brown dust... more brown dust, maybe a little orange dust, a few dead trees and then more brown dust, oh and don't forget to throw in a few corrugated iron roofs. Actually where I lived it was quiet green compared to other places on that vast dry island ^_^0. But here is still so GREEN.

Apart from my amazement of how green everything is I'd also like to point out the technological deficiency my family seems to suffer from. Most of them don't even own computers, which is scary coming from Australia where everyone I know has at least one computer (even my grandparents). Mind you I'm surprised my grandfather here in Finland even has electricity living out in the middle of the forest O_o.

On other news.

I have proudly lost my Veg-inity at a truck stop to a ham sandwich.

^_^ But it was a pretty truck stop and a beautiful ham sandwich on rye, with Russian Earl Grey tea (it was the most normal sounding tea they had compared to the green cinnamon apple and forest berry herbal teas).

There goes over two years of being a Vegetarian.

And geez do they eat a lot over here. It's constant non-stop eating, or maybe it's because I've gone to relatives and other peoples places (if you visit they force coffee and pastries upon you and sit and chat for hours). I don't think I have ever eaten so many biscuits and pastries (apart from the last time I was here).

And so goes my first week of fighting off coffee, kilos and clingy relos (the small girls are scary).

From, soon to be renamed Pastry Puff,

Saara.
