Typhoon Ewiniar has come and gone. It rained just about all weekend and continued into Monday. I went to the Port of Ulsan to take care of my Alien Registration and there was so much water on the road! The staff all showed up at school, but we cancelled classes. That sounds exciting, but there isn't a whole lot to do with the fringes of a typhoon going on outside!! James and I had a quiet afternoon back at the apartment before going for galbi when the rain stopped. Our apartment is on the end of the building and the wind especially whips around our corner so with the typhoon winds it was crazy - our apartment became a little wind tunnel with the windows open!
I had a great weekend despite the rain, too. On Saturday I went out with a bunch of folks from AIP last year. I managed to find an international ATM too and got some cash (hopefully to hold me over until payday). On Sunday I braved the torrential rain and rode a bus into town to meet up with my roommate from last year. I ended up seeing Pirates of the Caribbean.
The teaching is going well. Every week we swap between two sets of books, so I am working on a new set this week. It is really hard going into a classroom and not knowing where they are and being completely unfamiliar with the material. Most of the books we're using this week are not as good for teaching either. Too many pictures and not enough activities. Slowly but surely I do feel like I am getting the hang of things though. In most of the classes I have learned the names, too -- that always makes things better!
