Set off after a successful breakfast. Had 3 hours to travel. Set GPS and on our way, or the way the GPS wanted us to go. Turned her off 3 times, started to bug me.
Now I'm not one to whinge, but, I can't understand the tolling system in this country. Toll roads are great and allow you to go up to 130 klm's. But, tolls vary. Anything from 75 cents to 21 Euros and you don't know how much till you get to the end. That's after taking a ticket out of the machine when you start & putting it back in when you finish. To do this you  have to queue for up to 10 minutes, which negates the  time you saved travelling at 130. It took me a week to master the ticket system now I get a bit cranky when the bloke 5 cars in front stuffs up and we all have to reverse. Went through 3 tolls today but had had enough &  went the back roads. Much better and more picturesque, as Alice says.
One last thing is they don't allow trucks on the road on Sundays. Should happen world wide. ( Pat feel free to mention this to Dad.)
Now back to the trip, arrived at the motel around 3:30. Settled in and went for a walk to the port. A lot of money tied up at the marina. Kids played on the rocky beach and Rachel made a rock castle. Had a quiet drink and walked further to a Thai restaurant across the road from the water. One of the best Thai meals I have ever had & well worth it. Nothing opens on a Sunday except restaurants  and cafes. Off to Savona, Italy tomorrow via Monte Carlo. Will miss the food o France but not the tollways..
