Jody has kept our seats on the bus - the 7 of us sit together. Karl-Heinz is our guide.
Why does he pronounce "Wertheim" as "wuertheim". It is possible to pronounce correctly in English. No reason why he can't say "Vart- haim" ("V" as in valentine; "a" as in "lamb")
We drive 1h30 minutes through falling snow and fog - later drizzle. Wertheim on the river Tauber - a little midieval town. The river is very full - can see why we got stuck at Bamberg. They have a famous glass factory in town. I buy 3 glass angels for the Christmas tree - get almost 20% discount ( I guess because I helped with translation - the owner of the shop could not speak English that well.)
We drive further to Milthenberg where Renate Dietrich is or local guide
Jody and I walk back - at the first bakery in town we buy desert - Lebkuchen. We walk back to our bus. Two ladies got lost - they phone Eric, the tour director - who lets our bus driver know. We pick up the ladies on the other side of town 20 minutes late.
We drive 1 hour to Frankfurt. Our hotel is in Adenauerstrasse, in the middle of the shoppping district. We arrive in pouring rain at 4:45. Our hotel (Westin Grande) is huge - room is spacious. Tlired - Walter watches German tv - end of the world programme. I fall asleep - tired. Our dinner is not the same standard as on boat! The whine is South African (Blaauwberg). Not bad! The restaurant manager is upset - we combined 2 tables ( we are 7). Jody is atnher best - organising! Hey, we paid for this. What happened to the customer is always right?
Walter and Reggie discover they share a passion for motorbikes (harleys). We take leave of Reggie and Jean, but will see each other in San Francisco after Christmas.
