Well I just got my pack filled and ready for tomorrow. Saturday morning my mom is going to drive my friend and I to the other side of the island. The destination will be a small town called Bamfield. That will be where we start the West Coast Trail and head South. In Bamfield we first have to pay the $127 for the park hiking fee and $32 for the ferry crossing fees. Then we have to attend a 1 1/2 hour orientation session to make sure we still want to hike the trail. They say it is amazing how many people still show up at the trail head thinking it is just a 'walk in the park' hike. And how many people still get pulled out by the park rangers or coast guard! Amatuers! Anyway, it will be at least 7 days before you hear from me again so don’t start worrying. My mom will do enough of that for everyone!
So the last couple of days on the island have just been wonderful. Victoria is just such a beautiful place. The place is so green and the flowers are quite amazing. I’m quite comfortable with my masculinity so I have no problem saying that. I had lots of time touring around Victoria the other day as I waited for my niece to get her wisdom teeth all pulled. Man, was she miserable, but quite understandably.
Hard to really type right now as mom just keeps talking. It is really nice to visit family, but man, sometimes it is even nicer when it’s time to leave. I look forward to the tranquility of the trail, the sea breeze on my face and the star lit skies. For those of you who will be in the office all next week, may Saint Joseph (the patron saint of workers) be kind to you :-)
"When we wake up in the morning , we have two simple choices. Go back to sleep and dream, or wake up and chase those dreams. The choice is yours...."
Salut for now.
