About this blog
Olga and Jacqueline are embarking on an adventure to the Shores of the Mediterranean. We are travelling with Road Scholar and will be on on the mv Aegean Odyssey embarking in Civitavecchia and disembarking in Venice. The Mediterranean has long been one of the great cultural and trading centers of the world, a historic meeting point for ideas and inspiration for centuries the heart of Western Civilization. Its name derives from the Latin for middle of the earth, and for the many peoples who have lived around its shores that is exactly what it once was. We will explore the natural beauty and the architectural and artistic legacies of the great civilizations of this remarkable area. We will journey from the breathtaking sites of Rome to the elegance of classical Greek temples in Sicily and the Byzantine brilliance of Venice. We will also learn about the coastlines of Corsica and Sardinia and the stunning islands of Korcular and Hvar in the Adriatic.
