Where I stayed
Good sleep. Sunny - probably best couple of consistent weather days of our whole trip. Had brekky downstairs and walked down street and found Athens Flea Market. Wandered through and spent some money. Athens have also had and are still having a garbage strike - rubbish all over the place. Sad.
Walked through the streets past lots of old ruins - most of them fenced off. After a while I found a man with a horse and cart - lovely old fella - so I thought why not - a lovely carriage ride around part of the base of the Acropolis and then up to the ticket office. Bought ticket then wandered around the base of Acropolis looking at the very impressive Herodion ampitheatre and on further to the Theatre of Dionysos. Then up the stairs onto the Acropolis.
OMG what an awesome site, but not quite as breathtaking as I thought it would be - I think I am tired.
Walked up and through The Propylaea then could get a closer look at The Parfthenon complete with scaffolding and cranes and really did need a photo - really not into the own photo thing but sometimes it feels necessary for some reason. Wandered around to The Erechtheion with its famous lady statues.
Headed down after an hour or so and wandered around the nearby area which included the ancient Agora ''public place of assembly''. Nearby was the Temple of Hephistos and the Church of the Holy Apostles. Also the Stoa of Attalos which houses the Odyssey and the ILiad statues both 2nd century AD. And a statue of a goddess that could be Aphrodite - only 4th century BC.
Left the grounds, found a nearby restaurant and sat and ate gyros pork lunch at 1/4 to 2 looking up at the Acropolis.
Tomorrow I fly to Paris to meet up with Leon.
LEON: Last day of the course today. In the morning we did another bridal shoot in the studio using a window with a sheer white curtain as a backdrop which has the same effect as the main part of the studio. After morning tea we moved to the studio next door and did a shoot of a bride and bridesmaid. After lunch we headed out to a local church for an indoor shoot of bride and groom. Did various poses, signing the register and leaving the church. Went back to the studio and the boss went past the printers on the way and collected the prints from earlier in the week. Had a quick rundown of everything we went over during the week, checked out our prints, said my goodbyes and went back to the hotel. Andy headed home for the weekend so that left Simon and me to have a few beers to celebrate. After dinner we went and had a few more at a local Irish bar before going to bed.
