I'm up at 7am and straight to the curtains and peeking in the world outside. Large dark clouds, but lots of blue sky in between. 'Outer reef today? ' I mull to myself. Next it's right on to the phone to the travel desk - 'what do you reckon about the weather ? (Sunny with showers and wind) Is it going to be choppy at sea? (Yes) ' Rosa and I discuss and decide to risk another day waiting in the hope of better weather.

So, it's the usual breakfast (the boys have discovered there are packets of miso and theres rice so have started being asian for brekkie) and then off to the network of pools across the road. The boys play in the water for about an hour It's freezing dad ! Are you coming in? ' No chance.

Then Alex got a chance at snorkelling around the pool and Marc had a chance to test out scuba diving for 5 minutes. The instructor was very clear that the kids would only be able to float on the water for the experience but Marc, being so small, actually sunk under the weight of the equipment and got to see what it was truly like to be submerged and breathing under water.

Lunch was a nice and slow at a beach side restaurant followed by us actually venturing down to the beach to play in the sand and the head out into the water with the low tide which had come out at least 400m, perhaps further.

And then the war began. As in all these kind of battles, it's difficult to remember who threw the first grain of sand, but before long the three boys were lobbing wet sand balls at each other. These were the unpleasant kind with mud mixed in and had a distinctive pungent smell when scooped up. Worst was when it smacked against your body and oozed down ...

That kept us amused for a fairly lengthy period before we were under the beach showers, back in the pool and playing frisbee on the beach

And that dear readers, apart from getting caught in the rain on our way to dinner at the Marina (it always seems to start to bucket down at around 7:20pm ) was pretty much it for the day.
