I left Airlie beach late at night, under the cover of darkness. 11.55pm greyhound to Agnes Water. A whole 10 hours on the bus. Fun. Ok, so i save myself a night's accommodation but am not sure it is really worth doing the night buses. The only benefit is that you do not waste a day on the bus.
Arrived into Agnes Water at about 10am, was picked up by Southern Cross Retreat shuttle bus and off I went down the road to my new home. I had decided to stay a while (had even inquired about some work but none was about at the moment).
I had a lazy day, an afternoon nap. The Southern Cross Retreat is pretty chilled out. You stay in Cabins which are named after a country (I was in Canada). It was a pretty cruisey time in Agnes. Close by is the Town of 1770 which has a population of 56 but is a pretty place to watch the sun go down.
I tried my hand a surfing again, but there were only a few waves and my heart was not in it really, plus i needed the loo! so after a couple of hours i gave up and watched the others. But as the lesson was only $17 I was not too worried. The best thing to do in Agnes water is Scooteroo. Automatic Choppers with big ass handle bars and leather jackets with fire. Just imagine a group of 40 hells angels burning around the quiet country lanes of small town Ozzie. Very cool. We drove up to the pub in Town of 1770 to watch the sun go down while eating potato wedges. Class.
