A call of help caused me to take off on a lovely seven hour drive to Orono,ME.  My son called on Friday to say his truck had died an un-timely death [197,000 miles] on the south bound lane of I-95 at mile marker 121.  He was getting a ride to Biddeford,ME for the weekend, but I could come up and give him a ride back to school on Sunday [oh and Mom can you help with paying for the new engine].
So I left home at seven on Sunday morning and crossed the Greens to the beauty of a surprise snow storm which had frosted the tree and turned everything into a magic wonderland.  Four hours, breakfast and a stop of gas letter put me in Kennebunkport.ME where I met the kids on the beach.  We had lunch at Alison's on Ocean Ave. and than it was back out to the interstate and north we go.
Its only another three hours up I-295 and I-95 just past Bangor and your in Orono.ME.  The college is the main reason for the town at this point, and where I dropped my son off.  I could have played the guilt trip with him and made him hang out with me for a while and go to dinner, but the truth is I just wanted to get back south, so tomorrows trip would be quite as long.  So I gave him some money, and shot back down the road to Freeport,ME.
I was sure more than ready to get out of the truck, and so thankful to see the Hilton in Freeport.  Sometimes cookie cutter is just you want in a hotel.  I had dinner at the Corsican Restaurant, they make a wonderful little pizza and the best gingerbread.  Than back to the hotel a half hour work out on the treadmill to get the kinks out, and thankfully off to bed.  There will be time tomorrow for sight seeing and shopping.
