(Part 2)
After 5 weeks of looking around for a long term job, it happened.
On monday the 20th of sept '10, I ll start working for Ralph Lauren as store manager in the Bondi Junction, Sydney.
Apart from the fact that I ll be given a clothing allowance to represent the brand, it will give me the chance to put my 3 t shirts, two trousers, 3 pairs of socks and two pair of shoes on the shelf for a while and I ll be able to replace the things I have used to the limit during my trip.
So, short term objectives/purchases:
-new camera
-new phone (2 years old Blackberry dying in my arms too often : (
-new toiletry bag
-new ipod
-new shoes
-new dark blue socks (enough with the holes and an odd pair of socks, one blue, one grey : )
-new (small) backpack
-new sunglasses
-new speedo
-run a half marathon (21k) on sunday the 19th of sept
long term objectives:
-save money
-save money
-save money
-and,ah yes....save money
-sailing
-run a full marathon next
-work with the homeless people on xmas eve/day
-see Australia (Great barrier reef and more, much more)
-see NZL (bungee jumping and sky diving)
The show must go on...
(Part 1)
Landed in Sydney on the 1st of august 2010.
August in my mind means very warm.
I flew from Tahiti (35C) to Sydney (15C) to find out that there is a lot I can still learn....
In the southern hemisphere it's winter of course.
Yesterday I got a local number: 0061 450897916.
I stayed for 2 days at Jackie & Tim's, friends of my mother's, and this lovely couple took me around sightseeing: Watson's bay, Bondi beach, the Botanical garden, the Opera House, Martin's Place, David Jones. the Rocks, and the Fish Market, all in one day.
I am already in love with the city (thanks to them), I am very much looking fwd to finding a job and getting started. Lots of people playing sports and many things to do. A good start....
The camera will have to wait till I have a job and I can afford buying a new one : (
I am now staying at Lee's, a friend of a friend's place, who is being extremely nice and generous to me.
I have met a lot of people already and have had an interview a few days ago. A few more are lined up for next week. Fingers crossed.
