So after a very exciting few days in Salvador we decided to risk our lives one more time on cheap Brazilian airlines and booked a flight to Belo Horizonte in order to see some beautiful mountain scenery (not that I had not had enough!) Our early morning flight was more or less uneventful and I will save you the details except to mention, I was able to have a subway sandwich for breakfast! Yum!
After arriving in Belo Horizonte our plan was to head straight to Ouro Preto and start doing the sights, but I read on the plane that all the churches we were meant to see where closed on a Monday. Thank goodness for guide books sometimes and Mo found us a nice little day excursion from Belo Horizonte to see some famous caves.
The trip out there was only suppose to be an hour or so, but of course we missed the bus and had to wait and wait we did all day. From the bus from the airport to the bus to the cave to the bus back to the airport etc etc. we waited.....How frustrating!!!! But I'll stop boring you with this.....
The caves were interesting enough. There were called Gruta Rei do Mato after some crazy guy who lived there, if I recall. But I really do not have much more to say about them...in this case the pictures will have to tell the story.
