Esse dia saimos de Santa Elena, passamos por Campeche e fomos para Palenque. O primeiro ônibus saiu de Santa Elena as 7:30 AM e chegou em Campeche as 11:00 AM, por sorte o outro ônibus que saia para Palenque estava atrasado e conseguimos tomar esse ônibus. A viagem para Palenque foi longa (5 horas), no meio do caminho a polícia militar parou o ônibus, revistou a mochila de algumas pessoas, inclusive a minha.
Chegamos em Palenque super cansados, compramos algumas coisas num mercado, fomos jantar e depois para o hotel. Nosso hotel não era na cidade de Palenque, mas ficamos num lugar (El Panchan) no meio da selva, bem legal.
Dia 7
A gente acordou cedo para tomar uma van que nos legou para o parque nacional e depois para a entrada das ruinas. Logo na entrada a impressão que você tem das ruinas de Palenque é de arrepiar. A quantidade de contruções e o seu tamanho é espetacular. Realmente foi o melhor sitio arqueológico que a gente visitou até agora.
Os templos são gigantescos com escadas com mais de 300 degraus cada (365).
O palácio além de ter as esculturas, também possui salas subterrâneas. Depois de andar por todo o parque, fomos para o museu que tinha murais mais detalhados que foram retirados das ruinas de Palenque, além da tumba de Pakal. Embora a gente já tinha caminhado muito, fomos procurar um trilha que levava a uma cachoeira, depois de tentar varias trilhas conseguimos encontrar ( não havia nenhuma sinalização). Depois de um encontro com um batalhão de formigas a gente entrou na piscina natural da cachoeira e saimos da floresta refrescados.
Jantamos pizza e salada e eu tomei um submarino (cerveja e tequila).
Dia 8
Acordamos cedo mais uma vez, saimos do El Panchan e fomos para a cidade de Palenque. De lá tomamos um ônibus para San Cristobal de las Casas. A viagem foi terrível porque passa por tas as montanhas e a estrada é cheia de curvas, quase passamos mal.
Day 6
We left Santa Elena, went to Campeche, and then on to Palenque. The first bus left Santa Elena at 7:30 AM and arrived in Campeche at 11:00 AM. Luckily the other bus to Palenque was late (supposed to leave at 11) and we took this bus. The trip to Palenque was long (5 hours). On the way the military police stopped the bus and searched the backpacks of some people, including mine (Vlau´s).
We arrived in Palenque super tired, we bought some things in a market, we had dinner and then went to the hotel. Our hotel was not in the city of Palenque, it was in a place (El Panchan) in the middle of the jungle, pretty cool.
Day 7
We woke up early to take a van that took us to the national park and then to the entrance of the ruins. At the entrance the impression that you have of the ruins of Palenque is amazing. The number of constructions and their size is spectacular. It really was the best archaeological site that we visited so far.
The temples have huge stairs with more than 300 steps each (365).
The palace in addition to the sculptures, also has underground halls. After walking around the park, we went to the museum that has more detailed murals that were removed from the ruins of Palenque, and the tomb of Pakal. Although we had walked a long way, we wanted to find a trail leading to a waterfall, and after trying several paths we found it (there were no signs). After a meeting with an army of ants we came to the natural pool of the waterfall and we left the forest refreshed.
We ate pizza and salad and I (Vlau) had a submarine (beer and tequila).
Day 8
We woke up early again, we left El Panchan and went to the city of Palenque. From there we took a bus to San Cristobal de las Casas. The trip was terrible because it passes through the mountains and the road is winding, we were almost sick.
