Weekend Break in Mombasa and Diani Beach

Travelled to Mombasa on Friday night to stay at a volunteer house in Mombasa and gatecrash two of the other volunteer's leaving parties!! We ventured out for an Italian and WOW, what a taste sensation after the food I had been eating previously. I opted for a hot salami pizza and polished it down with a bottle of red!! It was also Emily's last day, so nice to go out but sad to see her go.
On Saturday, we, myself and 3 other volunteers, headed over to Diani Beach and to our amazement found that the hotel we'd picked was all inclusive. So....it was rude not to hit the pool straight away and sip on an ice cold Pina Colada - like I said previously, a big contrast and it also makes you feel abit guilty! One minute I'm dining on Ugali and vegetables, sitting on a stone floor, eating out of a plastic bowl and the next minute I'm sat like I'm on a 5* holiday!! The hotel was a real bargain though and only cost us 4100 KSH (£30), residents rates ;o)
It was a fun journey over, it consisted of two matatu rides, the ferry and then two more matatu rides...it took us about 1.5 hours and only cost 100KSH, less than £1!!
Sun has shone gloriously and I'm fully fed and watered!!
Can't believe how the time is flying by....onto my last week now ;o(
