Vatican
Weather fine.
Matt stood in two countries - on the border between the Vatican City and Italy!!
Massive queues at the Vatican - played fun word games while waited...there were a bunch of queue hoppers from a tour bus too. Not impressed.
Eventually made it inside, and had a look see. It felt like airport customs.
The boys were impressed by the artwork all around the walls and ceiling
Underwhelmed by the Sistine Chapel...packed...everyone there disregarded the no flash photography rule.
Saw the world's smallest post office.
St Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro) was sensational with a nativity scene in the centre.
Walked back to the hotel via a market where we sampled some confectionery.
Without the boys, we went back to St Peter's Basilica - probably the most magnificent cathedral building in the world. Genuinely stupendous nave.
Dark when we came out, with drizzly rain. Swiss Guards all in winter cloaks. Great feel to the place.
