Finally, the day has arrived! Well, almost... Today is departure day for our team. We will spend the night in Charlotte, NC before flying out tomorrow morning to Maturin, Venezuela. But still, almost everyone will be saying good-bye to their parents and families today!

It is amazing to see how far God has brought this team, especially the teenagers. Being a youth leader at Cornerstone for several years now, this experience has to be like what mother hen's go through when the baby chicks leave the nest! Even though, they'll still be where I can see them, it's time to let them venture out on their own and be there to help if they need it.

Of course, my standpoint is purely spiritual... I can't imagine the anxiety of their parents as they deal with the actual physical separation with their kids going to another continent! both my brother and I had to promise several parents that we will take good care of their kids, won't let them get kidnapped, assure them that Maturin is one of the safest places their kids could go because we grew up there our whole lives, speak Spanish and know the area and on and on and on...!

No backing out now! It's time to go and we're ready. Farewell, Orangeburg!
