Week 20... 12/07/2012 – 15/07/2012

The next morning I caught the bus to Sienna. On the way to sienna we did a stop over at a small town named Oriveto (check out the blog for Orviveto). I arrived at sienna at about 1:30 and checked into my room (tent). The tent was boiling hot and it was on a slant with no lights or nothing….true camping styles hahaha.

That afternoon I made friends with my tent buddy…and a few others that were staying in tents close by. I chilled at the pool that afternoon and then headed back to my tent late that afternoon. I got cleaned up and then the girl from my tent invited me over to a cabin where some of her friends where staying to chill and relax. I went to a cabin and made some more friends. We hung there for the rest of the night and had a pretty fun, and late night.

The next morning I met up with my new friends and headed into the main city. We caught the local bus there. We first went to a church (Chiesa di san domenico)where I thought it was pretty weird as the attraction at this church was St Catherines head and thumb (which I think was her really head mummy-fied…I head people talking about it) and her thongs hahaha LOL.

After that church we went to the cathedral which was really pretty and massive. I was stripped black and white. On the was to the cathedral we walked through really nice, narrow street with wine cafes and small stores. It kind of reminded me of Vienna a little but a lot more peaceful and less touristy.

After the cathedral we went to the main square where they have the palio races. The palio races are something they have twice a year where the different province of sienna met up and have a horse race. Its not a normal horse race, its crazy…where they push each other off, smack each other, run into each other…it goes wild. After the square we went to a park and grabbed some lunch and chilled at the parked for a few hours just chatting and laughing. After the park we booked dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then grabbed some drinks and headed back to the park. We chatted some more and then went to dinner. The restaurant was pretty cool…they seated us down in the basement area where they had Mexican hats. We grabbed the hats and put them on and took heaps of photos and wore it for the whole dinner hehehe. After dinner we headed back to our hostel and then back at the cabin where we hung out the previous night….it ended up being a late night once again.

The next morning I woke up pretty late. The friends I made were heading to Florence that day so I hung out with them that morning and said my goodbyes…ooo how sad. That afternoon I went to the swimming pool and hung out there. After the pool I grabbed myself some dinner and called it an early night.

The next day I walked into town where our hostel was and did some exploring. There wasn't much to see but it was fun walking around without a map and getting lost and seeing random stuff. I came across a shopping centre and then got some lunch there. After lunch I then headed back to the hostel. The hostel wasn’t that far…about 20min walk…but on the way to the shopping mall it took my waaayyy over one hour hahaha. I got back to the hostel at about 2.30 and then hand washed my clothes. After washing my clothes I had a siesta hehe.

At the hostel they have a fitness track, so I decide to give it a go…on the map the track looked massive but it was sooo small. I got bored after about 20 minutes so I went back to my tent. I made some friends with two people that are staying close by in another tent. After chatting with my friends and grabbed some dinner….(pizza again)..MMMMmmm. I am starting to get sick of pizza and pasta now… it seems to be the only thing I eat.

Check out week 20 cont...Florence.
