During our stay with Joe and Becky in Orlando we met some friends of theirs - Larry, Marisa and their son Anthony who lived in San Diego and graciously offered us accommodation if we were in the area. The weekend we arrived coincided with Marisa's birthday which she was spending with her sister in Canada so Larry and kindly took care of us for our stay.

With only a few days in San Diego we decided to hit the main attractions and started with the world famous San Diego Zoo which is home to a few Chinese panda's. It's a wonderful zoo to spend a day in and is an extremely lush and easy to get around. The cages looked bigger than any others we'd ever seen and animals were kept busy by occasionally searching for treats hidden by the zoo keepers.

We had enough time to get down to the waterfront to see the massive Aircraft carrier which has now been turned into a museum and the famous statue of the sailor kissing the nurse.

Thanks so much Larry for putting us up on a busy weekend and for introducing us to the delicious breakfast burritos. We had a great time with you and Anthony and appreciate your hospitality, look forward to seeing you guys in South Africa someday.
