After a short stay in Langebaan we planned to stop off and see another old friend in Franschhoek. Pierre and I first met in Langebaan, strangely enough at the same Raft race I met Nigel. Pierre would often spend weekends in Langebaan as he is keen windsurfer and there are few places as in the Cape where you get such flat waters and big wind. We would often catch up on the weekends and spent many a great weekend at is families cottage in Postberg (a private nature reserve in the West Coast national park).

On our road trip to Franschhoek we stopped off at the Alexanderfontein winery to taste some of their famous Sauvignon Blanc which has voted as one of the top 10 Sauvignon Blanc's by Wine Magazine for 2007. Clearly it has been very popular as they had left none to taste. Fortunately our mate Pierre had the common sense to stock up.

We had a wonderful weekend in and around Franschhoek, and were fortunate enough to have dinner at Rueben's restaurant, famous in the Cape for its good food. Pierre was kind enough to share (or experiment) some really old wines with us during dinner on the farm one evening, to our surprise the 1974 Landskroon Pinotage was extremely good.

Thanks for the great weekend Pierre and hospitality, especially for the outing to the waterfall, that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
