Hello and Good Bye

This should be the last entery for this amazing trip Gina and I have shared through South America.

We did manage to get on the mountain biking trip yesterday and we had an absolute blast. Both Gina and I survived the trip down the worlds most dangerous road unharmed but extremely dirty and sore today. The trip started at the top of a mountain at an elevation of 4700m above sea level. The first 20 or so km were done on pavement which were lots of fun as you could really fly. The last 60km were done on the worlds most dangerous road, a single lane gravel road with a 400m cliff on the left side. Our guide was really good and taught us as we went. For the last quarter of the ride the road got really dusty and you could hardly see though the dust clouds especially when a vehicle passed. I will let the pictures speak for themselves once I post them. The trip ended in a small village at 1100m above sea level, where we celebrated with beer, then had a quick ride up to one of the near by hotels for a shower and an all you could eat buffet.

We spent most of today crusing through the never ending market that is La Paz. We at a Burger King where I could get a Supersized Big King Combo for $2 US. You could also get any cd or dvd you want for just over $1 US so need less to say we took advantage of that. We tried to spend what we have left of our Bolivian money before departing tomorrow. The find of the day was and Edmonton Oilers hat, yes that is right, I found an Oilers hat in the market that I bought for $4.50 US. I didnīt even try to barter for it as it was a prize worth having. I couldnīt believe it when I saw it and now it holds a prized place on the top of my head.

We depart tomorrow at 8:45am for Lima, then spend the day in Lima waiting for our 9:25pm flight to Toronto. We leave Toronto Wednesday at 12:45pm and arrive in Edmonton at 2:50pm. Upon my return to the wonderful world of free internet, I will upload a lot of pictures from the trip. We tried along our travels but found it took way too long to upload. I will send out one final e-mail when the blog is complete.

Hope you enjoyed following along with our travels and let us know if you want to see all the pictures. I should have them all on DVD soon enough for your viewing please.

Oilers win cup!!
