Hello everyone and thank you for the birthday wishes.  Yesterday didn't quite go as planned as a thick layer of clouds covered the top of Table mountain so we decided to postpone going up to the top.  Abseiling will have to wait.  We did the red bus tour of the city, as recommended by Phil, and were happy with it. We mainly toured around the city center and went to a few of the museums on the route hoping that the mountain would clear up.  I forgot to bring my dark sunglasses to check out the scantily clad babes as recommended by the audio tour on the bus.  The weather here has been sunny, except for yesterday, but no rain.  Temperatures have been around 15-20C with lots of wind off the water so it feels much colder.

Today's plans also needed to be modified.  We were planning on going on a shark breaching trip where they pull a decoy seal behind the boat and the sharks fly out of the water to attack it.  After talking to the company they said that it was getting to be too late in the season for breaching and the chances would be pretty poor.  They tried to sell us on another cage dive but we decided against it.  Instead we drove down the cape through Table Mountain national park.  We stopped in Simon's Town on the coast to see the African penguin colony which was awesome.  We also drove down to the Cape of Good Hope.  We were going to go up Table Mountain on our way back into Cape Town as the weather was perfect this evening but they shut down the cable car due to poor weather earlier in the day.  We hike most of the way up the Lion's Head mountain instead to watch the sunset.  Tonight we are headed to a microbrewery for supper and libations.  Tomorrow we are off to Stellenbosch, the heart of wine country and hopefully Table Mountain first thing in the morning.

Too bad about Table Mountain and the sharks, but it sounds like you had a great day anyway. Hope you get to do the mountain tomorrow. You're not missing much hear, rain, cloudy, more rain, grey..YUCK. Phil and Kyle are off hunting and fishing down around LLB this weekend and camping. A little cool and wet but hopefully fun. Enjoy your B-day dinner and drinks
