Well, the day has finally come to depart Madagascar.  We leave tonight at 1:30am and arrive in Paris sometime tomorrow morning.

Yesterday was a much more exciting day here in Tana as it was back to buisness as normal. Everything was closed on Sunday and hence the long blog entry as we killed time in the internet cafe.

We went to the lemur park in the morning where we got up close with 7 species, all of which we hadn't seen on our trip which was nice.  Gina has some spectacular pictures and videos.  We were the only ones to take the shuttle out to the park from Tana which was nice as we got to leave whenever we wanted.

Last night we went out to the local disco with our tour leader Sarah who is waiting for her next tour to start on Thursday.  The bars here in Madagascar are typically full of prostitutes looking for "vazah" (white people) men so I was warned in advance that the locals would probably be all over me.  Turns out they left me alone, but one of the local guys had his eye on Gina.  Still it was a confusing evening as the first person who asked me to dance was a guy which was unexpected....and creepy.  Still it was a fun night and an experience.  I was by far the youngest white guy in the bar as most of the other white men were old, dirty and had the young local girls all over them which was disturbing.

Today we spent the day doing some last minute shopping spending the last of our Ariary.

Madagascar was fun, see you next time from France.

Enjoy your next venture in Paris
You must be getting lots of practice with your French Andre.
It's rememberance day here so a day off. Good to hear your news. I am sure you are a bit sad to leave Madagascar but it sounds like you got to see a lot. I hope they checked Gina's luggage for the elusive lemure!!!
There is a touch of snow here but not too cold yet and not enough to ski yet.
Phil had his wisdom teeth out Friday and the bone graft for his other tooth done too then he and Domke went to LLB for the weekend. Yesterday at 'precisely 0807' a big 6 point buck was in the sight of Phil who decided as a poor university student it would put meat on his table and the buck was felled. There was a very excited call from Phil about his first hit!! Domke then headed home to Fort McM with it as Phil returned to Edmonton (hopefully to study!) but on his way home I hear Domke too got his deer so I guess he too will eat while at school.
Toots is in Jasper next week and will be booking her room for Thanksgiving! Paul is about to travel to Columbus for a bit of work (and to see the Blue Jackets). The Oil won in a shootout last night and the Leafs if you care are on a roll! The Esk won the cross over last weekend and so now play the Alouettes for the Eastern Conference championship. Calgary beat Saskatchewan last week and play B.C for the western final. Maybe a Calgary/Edmonton Grey Cup?? weird!

Enjoy Paris. Hopefully you have decent weather so you can get out and about to see things.
Looking forward to you next post.
