Today was our first taste of life in Bali, at least the more touristy areas. We again got no sleep…woke up around 3:30 am and decided it was not worth our time to keep tossing and turning so we got up to plan our day. Around 6 am we decided to walk down the road towards Kuta Beach which as it turns out was a lot further than we expected. That was one of the many things unexpected today.

Lessons to be learned from today:

-People are extremely nice here, some just cause, some because they want you to buy things from them

-Do not stop to talk to any person trying to trick you into going to their hotel for some mysterious peel here game to win a prize

-If you are not interested in buying anything just say no, smile and keep walking (this is really hard when you feel bad for the person who is beginning literally to buy something)

-Eat where the locals eat

-Don't walk around during mid-day in the tropics; it is a recipe for exhausting and hallucinations LOL.

-Be extremely careful crossing or walking on a street because the motorbikes WILL come out of nowhere

Although there were many other things we learned, I will spare you from the rest. We had a pretty exhausting day but we had a lot of fun. We got to practice our Bahasa Indonesian and have a few phrases down already. We also had all local food and loved it! We didn’t even get sick yet. Tomorrow we will start off to a nearby island called Lembongan, where we hope to relax and get away from the touristy action. Until next time…
