Flight over to Chicago was great, I watched a few good movies-Ghost town, Bottle shock, Eagle eye and drank a couple vodka/cokes and a bottle of cabernet sauvignon. :)
Josh and his friend picked me up from the airport and drove us back to his dorm on campus. It was freezing, minus 16! But i was excited because where ever i looked there was snow! a foot deep. I dropped my bags off and we headed out to a party at his friends apartment. Everyone was so friendly and made me feel welcome. After the party we headed to a sorority house to visit my friend Trina (from camp) She was really surprised cos she didn't even know i was in the states. The sorority house is gorgeous! it's huge, holds 30 girls and they have their own chef! Eventually we headed back after being awake for  more than 24 hours i was ready for bed!
The next day we volunteered at a YMCA family focus group thing for martin Luther king day. A school bus took us to the ymca building and we helped out in a classroom which teaches underprivileged kids. We had to organise all their books, make spanish labels, tidy up and redecorate some areas. It was good and they gave us breakfast and pizza. One of Josh's friend Alex kept me entertained as he kept speaking in a English accent! haha it's so funny when they try. After, Josh showed me around campus, it's huge and it's right on the lake.
In the evening Josh took me out for a belated birthday dinner at a place called Dixie Kitchen, i had chicken pasta, (no surprise there!) and after we walked to the cinema and watched Slumdog millionaire which was excellent!  Today it seemed to be sports day as we watched basketball and American football. We caught the free shuttle to the welsh-ryan arena and its also free to watch for NorthWestern students (i borrowed a student card from someone) and you sit right at the front. The atmosphere was amazing, there's a band, cheerleaders, TV crews and lots of banter between teams, it was really fun. and we won. We then went to a friends house to watch the football (not soccer) game Philadelphia Eagles vs Arizona cardinals.
Monday we're heading into Chicago which will be fun. Having a great time so far and grateful i bought my hat, gloves and scarf!!
Monday: We caught the free shuttle to Chicago about 25mins away. We walked to Millennium park and was going to go iceskating but had to wait for too long so moved on. We headed towards Sears tower, The tallest building in the America!! was once the tallest in the world until the Petronas towers in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei 101 in Taiwan overtook. Anyway we could only go up the 99th floor but the views were amazing! check out the pics! You could see for miles. For Lunch i found a nice little English pub! called Elephant and Castle! had a 'union jack burger' and a pint of London Pride (not really, had a corono but thought Darr& Gar would like that) We then walked around Michigan Ave and State street. Was even colder in Chicago and my throat was killing me so went home around 5.30. Today we had some brunch in a uni cafe and Josh went to his classes. I think we're going to a bar tonight to play a bit of beer pong (ask Darren)
I fly to LA tomorrow so the next blog will be from there!
