Well, its only been a few days isnce I last updated this, but I've taken lots more photos since then and I need somewhere to upload them!

My first night in the guesthouse was spend playing 'Shithead', a card game I had not come across before, and which i managed to spectacularly lose twice, branding me the 'shithead'!  This then descended into a drinking game in which the name of the game was to guess whether the next card was going to be higher or lower than the previous.  guess wrong, you drink.  I didn't last all that long though, having had practically no sleep for nigh on 2 days!

On Tuesday morning I went to visit ..... Teak Mansion, the oldest wooden house in Thailand and former residence of the royal family.  It was very beautiful, but oddly, was completely decorated with objects and furniture imported from Europe.  A tour guide took a group of us around, at first I thought she was speaking in Thai, but it was, in fact, English!  I had a lot of trouble understanding her but I felt particularly sorry for the two Spanish men in the group who didn't have a chance!
From ther I visited a untouristy chinese temple  and then Wat Traimit, which houses a 5.5 tonne, 3m solid gold buddha.  it was a stone buddha until 40 years ago, when it fell from a crane transporting it and revealed the gold buddha beneath.

I then went to the famous Khao San Road which is pretty mush a tourist trap.  Its full of irish bars, guesthouses, dodgy looking travel agents and massage parlours.  There are stalls selling pirate DVDs, CDs, fake passports, driving licenses and even degrees!  I had a beer there (it was cheap!) then went home and got horribly drunk at the guesthouse!

Today, I vistied Wat Pho with the huge reclining buddha with totally blew me away, it was huge and so beautiful, its hard to really describe it.

I'm now in my Guesthouse which has an offer tonight, if you draw a higher card then the barman, you get your drink free, fantastic!

Going to Kanchanaburi, where the bridge on the river kwai is, so I shall send my next blog from there.  Lots of love
Vicky
