Well San Fran is a town of wonder! It truly is. I spent my Friday on a homage to the beat poets and went to the beat museum, which had more first editions than you could shake a stick at. It was really cool, they had a few original bits and bobs from the beat poets, like allen ginsbergs organ and stuff. Was tres tres cool! My beat day continued with another trip to the city lights book store where i bought myself a Jack Kerouac novel and some of Michael McClures poetry. Next stop was Vesuvios a bar famous for it's 50's writer clientel. I sat there for most of the afternoon and had a few drinks, reading, writing a little and chilling out! Very cool to be sat where Mr Kerouac had written, very cool indeed!

Anyway the rest of my day was spent reading snoozing and then a night of heavy heavy drinking and very bad pool playing, is it only me or does everyone else get better at playing pool when they are drunk?! Hmm!!

My hangover on saturday was cured by a superhot man in just his pants, tragically it was just a poster of david beckham but still, 5 storys high is nothing to be sniffed at, an hour in the sunshine and looking at him seemed to cure me, i spent the day hanging out on market street, wandering around, checking out shops and had another evening of drunkeness and giggling!

Sunday was the Euro final so about 20 of us met in the hostel and headed to a manchester city themed bar in china town and watched spain win 1 -0. It was very odd to be so far from home and doing what i'd be doing back there?! all good fun!

Gay Pride was in town, this was signalled to me by a man with a big long beard and a pink sequin dress. No, i am not joking! So we decided that we would head down, we missed the parade but there was a carnival thing and we collected many a free stickers and people watched. And there were some people to watch! It was good fun, nice carnical atmosphere and the sun was out yet again! We went for a nice chinese meal in china town and retreated to the hostel and hid from the 'free music' which was two people with tambourines and no understanding of the word tone deaf so back to a friends room armed with vodak and beer.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening of peace, quiet and good conversation untill the fire alarm went off. Out the fire exit we go, pour onto the street, stand there, go back in and all is ok, then the fire breaks out again, lots of smoke so we all have to leave again.
Never one to miss an opportunity whilst the firefighters were inside putting out the offending tumble dryer i hopped onfront of the truck for some photos! Well what else is there to do?!

Monday was a write off, the liter bottle of vodka two of us bought had pretty much gone so my biggest adventure was to subway for a sandwhich, then back to bed only to head out and do some posing in jack kerouac alley and then head to vesuvios for a farewell drink with kate and edd.

Tuesday, as i went to bed at a humane hour, was an early start and i actually made it to breakfast, it was free entry to the museum of modern art so i walked down there and spent several hours marvelling and getting to see some really cool paintings that i was hoping to see, another mark rothko to the list mainly!

I then headed across and into city hall, which had some of the coolest architecture, it was truly stunning, the carvings and stuff were amazing! I heard a load of clapping and decided to be nosey and found the wedding 'chapel' of city hall so i stood up there and watched a wedding between two women. It was kinda cool, everyone that was just around was cheering and clapping and the other people waiting to get married were all waiting either nerovously or excitedly!

After several hours in there i spent some time in a square catching some sun before what can only be described as a trek up some of the steepest hills in san francisco. the views however were very much worth it and after this i caught a cable car along some streets to the worlds 'crookedest street' which i walked down and then back up. Up was not so much fun!!

Anyway back on the tram down to Beach street, which as the name suggests leads you to a beach. Now when i first got here and i saw a suspension bridge accross the water i assumed this was the golden gate, which i learned a day or so later was not the case so today i finall saw the actual Golden Gate bridge! I walked along the beach front, sat down in the sunshine for a while and then walked across to a pier and saw the bridge and some very cool city views which looks even better when the sun is shining!! If anyone hadn't guessed i'm loving the sunshine!! I really really am!

Anyway, one final walk along the beach and back onto a cable car which took me up and down the insanely steep streets back to union square, a quick walk along kearney and i'm on broadway and home. Tomorrow i think it's time for a better look at that bridge! :-)
